World Blind Speed Record Attempt (Motorcycle)
20
February 2006
Link your product to excitement, resolve, strength of character, and success against high odds - to Australians taking on a huge challenge as only Aussies can. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things Summary: In the week of March 6-10th, well known Australian motorcycle stunt rider David Russell will attempt to break the Guinness world record for highest speed on a motorcycle BLINDFOLDED, at Lake Gairdner (salt lake) in South Australia. The current record is held by Blind Billy (the Whiz) Baxter at 265km/hr, achieved circa 2001 on a Kawasaki ZX-12. He had two spotters following, in radio contact. We will have a safety bike behind David to give him instructions via radio, and may exceed 300km/hr. The timing is perfect to capitalize on the heightened awareness of dry lake racing after the US and NZ release of what is sure to become a cult movie, "the Fastest Indian" starring Anthony Hopkins. (to be released in Australia early April) See what the excitement is about at www.thefastestindian.com Coverage: We will be doing
a minimum of three practice runs on the main straight at the World
Superbike event at Phillip Island, 3-5th March. This event draws
large crowds, has huge international exposure, and will include commentary
and interviews on the local television coverage. We have an agreement
with www.mcnews.com.au,
who will post a multimedia coverage of the attempt. This site receives
20 Million hits a month from 500,000 unique users in the motorcycle
community worldwide, many of whom would lie in your prime demographic.
